About City
Tokyo is often referred to as a city but is officially known and governed as a "metropolitan prefecture", which differs from and combines elements of a city and a prefecture, a characteristic unique to Tokyo.
Tokyo is the world's most populous metropolitan territory and is the focal point of Japanese culture, government, and finance. A clamoring cosmopolitan city, Tokyo is additionally a noteworthy transportation center and a world monetary and industrial center.
Tokyo Metropolis is comprised of 23 wards, 26 cities, seven towns, and eight villages. Tokyo boasts a surprising number of quite beautiful parks. There are over 6,000 different parks and gardens in the city.
The best place to visit in Tokyo is the Tokyo Disney Sea and Tokyo has Metropolitan Government administers the 23 Special Wards of Tokyo (each governed as an individual city), which cover the area that was the city of Tokyo. Tokyo has numerous outlying islands, which extend as far as 1,850 km (1,150 mi) from central Tokyo. Because of the islands' distance from the administrative headquarters of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in Shinjuku, local sub prefectural branch offices administer them. Tokyo is the best place to visit especially in the month of May to July.
The focused attraction of Tokyo's Marunouchi district is the Imperial Palace known for its beautiful 17th-century parks guarded by walls and moats and which is still in use by the Imperial family.
